Screens Help and Screens Tired

Screens can help you learn and play, but your eyes and body need breaks. Notice when a screen feels helpful and when it feels too much.

By the end you will be able to
  • Name two good things screens can do for you
  • Spot signs that your body needs a screen break
  • Describe one rest habit you can use every day

Lesson 1 of 3

Screens can help

A screen is not only for games. You might watch a science video, video-call Grandma, or practise spelling on a school app. Those are helpful uses because they teach you something or connect you with people you care about.

Helpful screen time has a job. You finish a lesson, send a message, or play a short game and then stop. You feel awake and ready for the next thing, like drawing or playing outside.

Watch the compare animation. One side shows screens that help. The other side shows screens that leave you tired. Notice how your body feels after each kind.

Lesson 2 of 3

Your body sends signals

Your eyes might feel scratchy. Your neck might feel stiff. You might yawn even though you are not sleepy yet. Those are signals that your body wants a break from the screen.

A break does not have to be boring. Stand up, stretch, drink water, or look out the window at something far away. Twenty seconds of looking far away can rest your eyes.

If you ignore the signals for too long, you might feel grumpy or find homework harder later. Listening early is easier than fixing a headache.

Lesson 3 of 3

Build a rest habit

Pick a simple rule with a grown-up. For example: after one episode or one level, pause the screen. Set a timer if that helps you remember.

Keep screens out of bedtime. Sleep helps your brain grow and remember what you learned at school. A dark, quiet room beats one more video.

Next you will learn to pause before tapping links or buttons you do not recognise. Asking first keeps helpful screen time safe too.
